Little brothers get in fight over Call of Duty,...
To my parents, re: whether Call of Duty is appropriate for the kids: I told you so.

"My Big Fat Queer Jewish Family" by David Shneer →
I had to do everything possible not to get bent out of shape that the world into which I was bringing a child was still so dominated by the idea that a sperm and an egg make a family. Lots of families exist that are created out of bonds not following the expected ‘sperm meets egg, baby arrives to mom and dad’ pattern - mine included. I’ve spent a lot of time in my life...

Hey guys there was just snow at my house
in Phoenix, Arizona. It only lasted for a couple minutes, but it was totally there. This is only the third time I’ve ever seen this happen in my 10+ years spent in Arizona. It’s hard taking pictures of snow but maybe I got a good one to upload later.

Late last night
I cleaned the kitchen instead of studying for the MCAT or going to sleep. Not sure what sort of priorities are expected of me at this point. Also I just applied for a credit card. WHAT??! I’M A GROWN-UP NOW?

Chapter One, Number 15: Which of the following species is represented by the electron configuration 1s(2)2s(2)2p(6)3s(2)3p(6)4s(1)3d(5)? A. Cr B. Mn+ C. Fe2+ D. Co3+ Monica’s thoughts: CONFUSED. An Mn atom would lose an electron in this pattern, but I’ve always been taught that Cr in its neutral state is with the d-orbital half-full, because that’s more stable than a...

Maxistentialism: The best tamale of all time →
companionablesniffles: maxistentialist: Comment on this Reddit thread by rhoner: This past year I have had 3 instances of car trouble. A blow out on a freeway, a bunch of blown fuses and an out of gas situation. All of them were while driving other people’s cars which, for some reason, makes it worse on an emotional level. It makes it worse on a practical level as well, what with the...

This is a pretty embarrassing anecdote for you...
Before I turned in my cell biology final on Monday I realized I had written “Mitochondrion” at the top of the page instead of my name. I started silently just cracking up, and you know how when you’re really tired it’s hard to stop laughing? And then I spent about three minutes of my exam time crossing out “Mitochondrion” thoroughly enough that my professor...

There is also the possibility that my father threw it away. :/ Won’t know until tomorrow.  Don’t wait for it to rot - COOK IT! Yumyumyum pumpkin.

HOLY SHIT MATH
companionablesniffles: Something extraordinary happened to me yesterday. I was working on a math test and I got an answer for a problem, looked at it, and went, hmm, that seems wrong. I was then able to look back at my work, locate the error and find the correct solution. This is the first time I have ever been able to do this. Under the cut, find an account of my newly budding love affair...

or am I wasting my time here? What I’m trying to say is, am I cut out for this? This has been what I’ve wanted to do with my life for a long time, but people in Haiti (and elsewhere) need someone who’s actually capable of treating them instead of breaking down into tears all the time. Also, if I can’t manage to focus enough to finish reading for cell bio, then I will not...
